Q) Why doesn't my Zip drive work on my High Performance machine?
A) We have seen conflicts with Zip drives that need to have a software patch downloaded for them to work. The patch is located in our downloads area.

Q) Where is my Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP CD key so that I can register my operating system?
A) We affix the sticker to the lower back corner on the left-hand side of the outer casing of the machine.

Q) Why won't my EvTek using Windows 98 shut down properly? The Windows screen with "shutting down" remains on the screen.
A) All Windows 98 machines are loaded with a software patch that remedies a software bug not allowing the machine to shut down. Occasionally this patch needs to be reinstalled if other software has been loaded onto the machine. Here is a link to the patch: http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/downloads/contents/WURecommended/S_WUFeatured/Win98SE/.

Q) How do I upgrade the memory for my EvTek Computer?

The below chart lists types of memory used:

System Memory Type

High Performance 168 Pin PC100 unbuffered
LC 168 Pin PC100 unbuffered
LC2/LC2+/LC2+SE 168 Pin PC133 unbuffered
Perfectia 168 Pin PC133 unbuffered

Q) How do I upgrade the Video card?
A)  Your EvTek computer system supports AGP Video cards. For further information contact your sales representative. Perfectia systems can support only 1.5V AGP 4X cards. Using an older/higher voltage card will damage the motherboard and video card, so please use extreme caution.

Q) What is the difference between a PS2, serial, or a USB mouse?
A)  EvTek Computers support all 3 mice platforms. All connectors are labeled and have symbols on the back of the machine to denote where to plug the mouse in. Look at your connector and match it to the corresponding port on the back of the machine.

Q) Where do I plug in my speakers?
A)  The "Line Out" port on the back of the machine with the green circle.

Q) Why doesn't my EvTek turn off when I press the power button?
A)  EvTek systems utilize a "soft-off" button. Pressing the button briefly will cause the system to go into suspend mode, not power off. To turn off the power, press and hold the power button for at least 4 seconds. The system will power off.

Q)  Where can I get CD-ROM / 5 ¼ drive rails for my High Performance / High Performance II System?

Q)  Can I upgrade my system to Windows XP?
